Blush Sulgrave Club Wedding in Washington DC

Lush, classic and romantic were words Kelly and Jim shared to describe what they wanted for their Sulgrave Club wedding. We chose a palette of soft hues – blushes, pale pinks, and classic whites punctuated with soft green foliages. Textured but tailored in style, Kelly’s bridal bouquet was a showstopper. Designed around champagne Sahara roses, and ivory roses and spray roses, and white lisianthus, summer garden touches of Café au Lait dahlia, light pink astilbe, white veronica and pops of a deeper peach spray rose gave a gardeny dimension to the bouquet. The bridesmaids carried complementary bouquets of Vendela and Sahara roses, ivory spray roses, white lisianthus, light pink astilbe, and white veronica accented with seeded eucalyptus foliage, wrapped with blush satin ribbon. Jim’s boutonnière was designed with an ivory Vendela rose accented with artful loops of bear grass. For the remaining boutonnières, we combined champagne Sahara roses with bear grass.

Ceremony and Reception

Following the ceremony at the St. Gabriel’s Church, the guests were treated to a Sulgrave Club wedding designed in classic hues of peach, champagne, pale pink and ivory with touches of green. Adding to the venue’s already stunning reception spaces were the couple’s two unique guest table centerpiece concepts. For half the guest tables, silver candelabras held elevated designs of white hydrangea, peach stock, champagne roses, ivory spray roses, Café au Lait dahlia, white lisianthus and light pink astilbe finished with touches of salal and seeded eucalyptus foliage. Thee remaining tables featured a silver mercury glass bowl with bountiful white hydrangea, peach stock, champagne roses, ivory spray roses, Café auLait dahlia, white lisianthus, light pink astilbe, and white veronica, accented with seeded eucalyptus foliage. For a sweet finishing touch, we crowned Kelly and Jim’s cake with beautiful blooms, and provided a pretty toss bouquet for Kelly to throw.

Designing flowers for St. Francis Hall always begins with scale. The ceilings are high, the stone walls are bold, and delicate arrangements can quickly disappear if they are not designed with the room in mind.⁣
⁣
For Monica & Dave’s wedding, we leaned into that height with tall arrangements that lifted the eye upward while still keeping the tables welcoming for guests. Soft white and green flowers created a romantic feeling against the historic architecture, while the elevated designs helped the entire room feel balanced. When the proportions are right, the flowers do not fight the space. They belong in it.⁣

The 2026 Folger Gala had a vision for an event that was described by words like opulent Regency, peacock feathers, trailing plants, still life, Bridgerton. The linen choices were vibrant, full of pattern, and eclectic. We designed their arrangements with movement, color, texture and flower choices that worked with lighting for a truly incredible event.

Elaine & Trey were originally supposed to be married in 2020. Like so many couples, they had to postpone.

On the eve of what would have been their originally planned wedding day, Elaine’s bridesmaids reached out with the sweetest idea: send her flowers along with a note reminding her that her celebration was still ahead. Instead of creating a random arrangement, we decided to surprise her with something even more meaningful: a preview of her wedding flowers. Specifically, a sample of what her reception centerpieces would look like.

I still remember walking up to her front door. It was painted the most beautiful shade of green, and I remember thinking, “Of course it is.” Somehow it fit her perfectly. You pick up on little things like that when you spend your life getting to know couples.

A little while later, Elaine reached out. While she had no idea what we’d done, she simply said she’d just received flowers, and they were EXACTLY what she’d always imagined for her wedding.

People often assume wedding flower consultations are about scrolling through Pinterest or recreating someone else’s designs. For me, they’re about listening.

Over the years, I’ve learned to hear not just what couples say, but what they mean. To recognize when a single word holds an entire vision that hasn’t quite found its language yet. My job isn’t simply to copy inspiration photos (but we’re good at that, too). It’s to translate hopes, personalities, and half-formed ideas into flowers that feel unmistakably them.

Sometimes, that means getting it exactly right before they’ve ever seen a single bloom
