Preppy Vibes for Army Navy Country Club Wedding

October might be fall in some parts of the United States, but here in the DC area, it’s still summer. And nothing says summertime like bright pinks and greens! Lauren and Javier’s gorgeous, bright, summery preppy Army Navy Country Club wedding in Arlington, Virginia. For her bouquet, Lauren wanted something classic yet fun, modern and preppy. Whites, shades of light and hot pink and bright greens – with flowers like dahlias, roses, hypericum berries, stock and freesia – made up the bridal bouquet. The bridesmaids bouquets had similar flowers, but in brighter, deeper shades of hot pink, each finished with navy-and-white striped ribbons. A hot pink rose for Javier complemented the flowers in Lauren’s bouquet.

The rooftop ceremony was centered on a gorgeous chuppah covered with trailing ivy and flowers in shades of bright hot pink. The pretty Army Navy Country Club wedding aisle was finished with chair posies that complimented the chuppah, each finished with navy and white striped ribbon.

This week is our last "calm before the storm", and for that we are most thankful! Thanksgiving is that last burst of fall color before the start of holiday sparkle. As we head into the December whirlwind of holiday décor, winter weddings, restaurant installations, and a very special charity celebration, we’re taking a moment to savor the pause.⁣

The quiet beauty of the harvest always reminds us of David & Eric`s wedding at Decatur House, where the centerpieces weren’t flowers at all but an abundant tapestry of fruits and vegetables. A true harvest table: seasonal, generous, and grounded in the idea that beauty can come from what’s already been given.⁣

This week, that feels especially right. Gratitude for the work behind us. Gratitude for what’s ahead. And gratitude for the couples, planners, teams, and communities who make this wild, wonderful season possible.⁣

From emerald to chartreuse to the softest sage, green can be grounding, glamorous, or a little bit wild — sometimes all at once. And with the Wicked sequel stirring up the color world again, we’re curious…

Mey first reached out by saying she’d loved her sister Iona’s wedding flowers, from the colors, the choices, the way everything held up for days. She wanted something just as thoughtful for her own wedding at 101 Constitution.⁣
⁣
A textured mix of white florals with lush eucalyptus bringing its blue-green hues gave the skyline a quiet elegance of its own. And standing there with that view of the Capitol, it was hard not to feel grateful for the trust families place in us, year after year. It’s an honor every single time.⁣

Laura & Ben`s outdoor ceremony at the Omni Shoreham moved inside at the last moment, and it turned out to be perfect all the same. We built a custom chuppah to frame their nuptials, overlaid with branches and flowers to echo a natural garden arbor. Swipe to see more of what made this one of our favorite spring weddings! (And they still managed to sneak in a few outdoor photos. 😉)⁣

Laura & Ben's outdoor ceremony at the Omni Shoreham moved inside at the last moment, and it turned out to be perfect all the same. Too early? I confess. I’m a Thanksgiving purist. It’s literally my favorite holiday. But as a floral designer, I’m often living a season ahead. Thinking of spring when it’s winter, or fall in the heat of summer. And yes, plotting winter holiday decor when it’s Halloween (if not the 4th of July!)

But something about the quiet in the air today and news of snow in places nearby is all it took to awaken my holiday spirit and launch holiday planning mode! If it takes you more to get you in the mood, maybe Sonja & Mike’s Christmas wedding from a few years ago will do the trick!
