This past summer, we designed and produced a classic, DC rooftop wedding at Capitol View at 400. With a gorgeous skyline view and a beautiful summer day, this rooftop wedding showcased DC summer weddings at its finest! In addition to the classic palette of whites and greens, we incorporated touches of blush to complete the romance.
The Perfect Palette
For Alex and John’s DC rooftop wedding, they chose a stunning classic color palette including whites and ivories, blush, and green tones. Alex’s bouquet was a loose & organic stunner. It included white peonies and roses, blush ranunculus and accented with Italian ruscus and eucalyptus foliage. It looked as effortless and chic as if we had just scooped up the most perfect blooms from a spring garden and whisked them together into one glorious bouquet.
Elegant Details at Capitol View at 400
As guests arrived at the venue, they were greeted with an elegant sign accented with ruscus and white phalaenopsis orchids. For their DC rooftop ceremony, the entrance to the aisle opened with graduated pedestals on each side. A collection of clear and gold containers each held varying designs of hydrangea, roses, stock, lisianthus and ranunculus accented with eucalyptus and ruscus. Creating an elegant, modern statement for the ceremony were two gold Harlow stands, each holding lush, monochromatic designs of white roses, lisianthus and hydrangea finished with waterfalls of dramatic phalaenopsis orchids and wisps of ruscus foliage for movement and texture. The balanced asymmetry created a frame around the couple.
Rooftop Wedding Reception
After Alex and John exchanged vows, they and their guests ate, drank and danced the night away under twinkling lights & stars. To accommodate social distancing, the guests were split into two levels. To let the city skyline really shine, we accented tables on the upper rooftop deck with lush, elevated designs featuring a mix of cocculus, salal and ruscus accented with white hydrangea, white and pale pink roses, ivory spray roses, white stock and white lisianthus. Petite designs in gold cube vases featured white hydrangea, lisianthus and orchids accented with baby monstera leaves. Wedding flowers crowned the cake with ruscus foliage ringing each tier.
You would never know by looking at the wedding that it was anything less than plan A. You would never guess the event had been rescheduled from May to August. You would never imagine that any of the original intentions had pivoted. Alex and John were the picture of grace and elegance throughout, beautiful inside and out. In the words of our dear bride Alex, “Our wedding didn’t go as I had originally planned. It was better.”
