Located at the corner of M Street and Wisconsin Avenue is the City Tavern Club, a hidden gem of a historic site for a Georgetown wedding in Washington, DC. In fact, you’ve probably walked right past the entrance and never knew it was there! It was the beautiful site of Allie and Peter’s nuptials last June.
Prior to their classic Georgetown wedding, Allie and Peter took photos around the area, hitting notable favorites that included the old Riggs Bank in the background and more. Georgetown wedding portraits are such a great way to capture the historic nature of that part of town. Allie’s bouquet was a splendor in white, designed using peonies, roses, and lisianthus accented with Italian ruscus foliage. The bridesmaids carries similar, smaller bouquets, a classic contract to their black dresses.
The ceremony took place in the Bliss Room. What better place to share one’s vows and take a step into a new life together? The ceremony was centered on a simple birch pole arch accented with greenery and white flowers. Lining the aisle would informal clutches of silver dollar eucalyptus foliage.
Following the ceremony, guests were treated to cocktails in the Long Room, where an elegant greenery garland accented with white flowers elevated the room’s every day mood into something special. As a historian note, John Adams made a famous toast in this room on June 6, 1800.
The Great Hall at the City Tavern Club is one of Georgetown’s most elegant spaces for a wedding. Rumor has it that the unique silver washed wallpaper in a style made popular by Jackie Kennedy was secured by none other than herself as well. The classic scheme of green and white complemented the room perfectly. Tall dramatic , distinguishing the head table, each featuring a lush design of greens accented with stock, spray roses and larkspur in shades of white and ivory. Delicate boutique bud vases held perfect white blooms, and were interspersed with white taper candles in gold candlesticks. Lush, low compotes with classic textures of hydrangea, roses, lisianthus, stock, geranium leaf and ruscus were surrounded by white tapers in gold candlestick and the twinkle of votive candles.
A wonderful family. A fabulous day. A beautiful life starts with a beautiful night, and we were delighted to be part of Allie and Peter’s Georgetown wedding day.
